How To Check Yourself

When should I check?

  • Once a month
  • In the shower or bath
  • When everything is relaxed

Step 1-Look

  • Any swelling
  • Changes in size or shape
  • Skin changes you haven’t noticed before
  • Its normal for one side to be slightly different – you’re just looking for new changes.

Step 2-Feel

  • Using both hands to gently roll each testicle between your fingers
  • Feel for lumps, firmness, or changes in texture
  • They should feel smooth and firm not hard

Step 3-Know what's normal

  • You may feel a soft, tube like structure at the back – this is normal.
  • The key isn’t what’s “right” or “wrong” – it’s Knowing what’s normal for you

What should I look out for

  • A new lump or swelling
  • A change in size or shape
  • A feeling of heaviness
  • A dull ache in the groin or lower abdomen
  • Anything that just doesn’t feel right

If you notice a change

Don’t panic – and don’t ignore it.

Contact your GP or a healthcare professional as soon as possible. Most changes are not cancer, but its always best to get checked.
