When should I check?
- Once a month
- In the shower or bath
- When everything is relaxed
Step 1-Look
- Any swelling
- Changes in size or shape
- Skin changes you haven’t noticed before
- Its normal for one side to be slightly different – you’re just looking for new changes.
Step 2-Feel
- Using both hands to gently roll each testicle between your fingers
- Feel for lumps, firmness, or changes in texture
- They should feel smooth and firm not hard
Step 3-Know what's normal
- You may feel a soft, tube like structure at the back – this is normal.
- The key isn’t what’s “right” or “wrong” – it’s Knowing what’s normal for you
What should I look out for
- A new lump or swelling
- A change in size or shape
- A feeling of heaviness
- A dull ache in the groin or lower abdomen
- Anything that just doesn’t feel right
If you notice a change
Don’t panic – and don’t ignore it.
Contact your GP or a healthcare professional as soon as possible. Most changes are not cancer, but its always best to get checked.
